WATCH: Malak Mattar Reminds Us Gaza Is Palestine

My name is Malak Mattar. I am a Palestinian artist from Gaza. Last May, Israel attacked Gaza yet again killing over 270 Palestinians. It was the fourth full assault by Israel that I have experienced in my 22 years of existence in this world. Since I was a small child, Gaza has been under full siege and blockade, the harshest chapter of Israel’s violence against Palestinians in Gaza.

My art is my salve allowing me to show a side of Gaza no one pays attention to: the beauty, the vibrancy, and its potential.

In the video above, I share my experience living in Gaza and my hopes and dreams for the future.  I also remind you of your power to help the people of Gaza. The power of people like you is what can end Israel’s brutal blockade and help us realize our great potential.

On this fifteenth anniversary of the blockade and siege, I ask that you please continue to do your part to advocate for Gaza. The first step is to watch and share this video widely. The second step is to write to your member of Congress to tell them that the US must end the blockade by stopping its military and financial support to Israel.

Our lives are not expendable

Return is not only possible, it is unstoppable. Join me to declare Palestinians must be free.
