In Arabic, dalouna means “let’s go and help,” and refers to a communal process where Palestinian villagers would lock arms to stomp on mud and sticks, using their bodies to create a thick paste for sturdier roofs. This practice inspired the dabke song and dance “Ala Dalouna.”
Over time, dalouna has continued to symbolize Palestinian collective resistance and resilience.
It’s a promise of collective action rooted in a commitment to each other and the joint struggle.
